PUK Fine Jewelry Welding Devices by Lampert Tools

The PUK requires minimal space and maintenance costs are very low compared to other more expensive systems.
Since there is very low heat creation on the workpiece, it is possible to easily continue work on the final finish or continue working close to stones.

The PUK 111 and PUK 2 Fine Welding Devices

The PUK 111 and PUK 2 Fine Welding Devices are compact and multi-purpose spot welding devices for applications where soldering is impossible or not fully suitable.
The method used by PUK is very similar to laser welding, allowing precise positioning of large and small welding points and welding hard to reach locations or deep lying positions.
With PUK fine welding devices you can achieve many possible applications. Some of the uses include welding semi-finished products, workpiece fixation prior to soldering, welding loops, closing pores and creating smaller joints.
It’s even possible to add metal with the high performance PUK 2. Welding wire can be added exactly to the spots where material is lacking, e.g. breakage areas or area where profiles have to be rebuilt.
One special application is fixed welding prior to soldering processes. This allows you to work more effectively because time-consuming clamping and binding is no longer required.
Especially suitable for welding are all precious metals and precious metal alloys, plus stainless steel and titanium, as well as many bronze and tin alloys (fashion jewelry).
In general, all metals that are well-suited for arc welding are also suitable for PUK welding.

PUK111 Welding Device
PUK 111
The PUK 111 is a classic model. This easy to use welding device is currently enjoyed by a large group of devoted users. The PUK 111 is ideal for small workshops or use in production operations. In addition, the high quality workmanship of this popular device guarantees successful use.

PUK2 Welding Device
PUK 2
Besides the proven range of functions and easy operation of the PUK 111, the PUK 2 offers several added features.
Two switches are available to set the impulse length and welding frequency. Selecting a longer impulse length allows up to 50% more penetration depth for welding points, depending on the material used.
Setting a shorter welding frequency combined with a stronger power supply helps you work more quickly.
The PUK 2 also has a higher range of performance. In addition to finer welding points, the PUK 2 provides you 30% more output than the PUK 111.
The PUK 2 has the advantage in welding situations that require more strength combined with deeper penetration, such as welding ring bands or working with hard to weld material such as silver.

The Principle
PUK devices work both simply and intelligently. As soon as the electrode tip touches the workpiece, the electric circuit closes and the welding process begins. An arc is emitted from the point of contact and a small welding point 0.6 - 2.5 mm in diameter (depending on model and material used) melts the metals together and a stable welding point results.
Adding the electrode tip allows the welding points to be precisely positioned. The arc required for welding is created starting at this point of contact.
The electricity for the arc is electronically controlled in relation to length and distribution of energy in order to achieve the right penetration depth and homogeneity for the welding points.
By using protective gas during welding, oxidation and pore formation is largely avoided, so that the workpiece can be processed further without any additional treatment.

The “mezzo” Stereo Microscope
The new “mezzo” stereomicroscope opens up a whole new dimension for PUK fine welding device users. Even for users without much experience, the “mezzo” allows precise and sensitive welding with an entirely new level of precision.
It’s now possible to guide the workpiece with both hands. This guarantees outstanding welding results with considerably longer electrode lifespan.
Compared to working with regular optic units, the “mezzo” microscope easily provides 30% - 40% better results.
The high quality “mezzo” is fully compatible with all PUK fine welding devices and features a large viewing field and sharp, contrast-rich images with a 10x zoom. The work spacing is designed so that even larger workpieces can be viewed under the microscope without a problem.
The newly developed electronically controlled eye protection filter made of real glass is the basis for a distortion-free view of the welding area. This guarantees secure vision field darkening during welding according to DIN EN 379 standards.
The PUK 2 also comes with a completely adjustable fastening arm for the PUK welding handpiece, plus a well-suited lighting unit.

Safety Features
Proper eyeprotection is always necessary when welding. Optimal control of the welding process combined with professional eyeprotection is guaranteed at all times thanks to the modern, electronically controlled LCD protective filter on the PUK’s “Optic Unit” and on the “mezzo” stereomicroscope.
Equipment fulfils the requirements of CE and VDE certification. The eyeprotection filters used have been tested and approved by the DIN Office for Eye Protection (DIN-CERTCO).
